Courses are broken down into parts called semesters. Semester grades determine whether the course is passed and credit is earned. Each semester grade is made up of three grades: two quarter grades (each count for 37.5% of final semester grade) and the exam grade (counts for 25% of final grade). To receive a passing grade for the semester, the student must earn a passing grade in:
- One quarter grading period and the semester examination, or
- Both quarter grading periods.
In other words, 2 out of 3 grades must be a passing. Also remember that the Algebra, Geometry, Biology and US History EOCs also will count for 30 percent towards your final semester grade or pass/fail depending on your cohort’s graduation requirements.
