Letter from Ms. Segal
Dear Incoming Freshmen of STHS,
As your counselor, I’m charged with helping you balance rigorous academics and personal growth. I look forward to working with you on an individual basis, and seeing you during various grade level and classroom activities. I will support you in your effort to become as competitive as possible for your post-secondary plans, as well as give you the tools you need to become the best version of yourself possible.
For parents, I’m available to address any academic concerns as well as assist in bridging the gap in communication that often occurs at this stage of development. I understand the challenges of both being a teenager in today’s fast-paced world, and being the parent of a teenager.
Although this is my first year at STHS, I’ve been a high school guidance counselor for the past eight years. Prior to that, I was a school social worker for Broward Schools. In addition to my career with the school system, I have a private psychotherapy practice where I work with a diverse population of children and adults. I served in the United States Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa for two years, where I learned invaluable lessons about being a productive member of a community. I’m a proud native Floridian and will always be part of the Gator Nation.
My door is always open to you. Feel free to contact me via email at email@example.com or by phone at (754) 321-7475.
